Throughout her journey of recovery, Charlie succeeds to find true friends that help her emotionally and she also lets go of the people who hurt her. Although it was hard for Charlie to continue living her life, she pushes herself to fully recover from the tragedies she experienced. Charlie overcomes many obstacles that come her way. The setting switches to Charlie going to Arizona when she is released from the treatment center. The patients she meets impact Charlie’s life because they become friends that she can count on. The book first takes place in a treatment center in Minnesota, where Charlie receives help for her mental illness. Girl In Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow is a beautifully written novel that speaks on the tragedies that a 17-year-old girl named Charlie Davis experiences throughout her life.
