You will need to have the Windows Update to make use of Game Pass on PC, because everything runs through the new Xbox App on Windows 10. We’re doing some testing to see if you can change Game Pass for PC regions easily. With the Xbox One and the Windows store though, you’re able to change your regions. There are only 63 titles available on Game Pass for Pc locally, compared to 109 in the US. Do it.Īs a word of warning though, it looks like the service is a little hobbled in SA. That means if you have 3 years of stacked Xbox Live, you can convert it to 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate right now for just R15. Even better than that? As an introductory offer, it’ll add to your existing Xbox Live or Game Pass subscription and convert it to Ultimate. Even better? It’s available right now for a 30-day trial, for just R15. If you already have an Xbox and want to bundle it up with Xbox Live and Xbox Game Pass there’s an “ultimate” subscription that costs just R199. It’s now available on PC, but it brings with it many more games – including games like Metro Exodus, Void Bastards and Hollow Knight all in a monthly fee of around R150 per month. It’s exceptionally good value, especially because it comes with Microsoft’s first party games included on their date of release.

Microsoft’s Game Pass is the existing service on console that allows subscribers to download and play any game from a library of hundreds of games.
If there’s one other thing that tickled me though, it was the announcement of Game Pass for PC. They seem to almost be the same system when it comes to hardware, with focuses on reduced load times, higher refresh rates and resolutions.Įven the games that were announced were either wholly expected, or just not particularly exciting. Even their next-gen console reveal was underwhelming, effectively parroting what we already knew about the next generation console coming from Sony. For all the hype and bluster, what Microsoft ended up showing was several rungs down the ladder than we expected. I found it a thrilling change of pace.Microsoft’s press conference was…well, it was okay. The Swindle - a very intense stealth platformer roguelite that didn't get the best reception. Stranger of Sword City - maybe stretching this generation a bit, but it's another great dungeon crawl RPG with excellent mechanics and amazing art. Bleed was fun, but the sequel blows it away. Rough around the edges as it's very indie, but worth playing.īleed 2 - a kickass little run and gunner. Plays kind of like Doom with a bit of Arx or Underworld blended in. Hedon - a pretty decent shooter built in GZDoom. The devs went on to create They Are Billions, which is apparently a press and streamer darling. It's a little hard to pigeonhole as it blends inspiration from a number of games. Samorost 3 has a Photographic, Stylized art style and uses a Point-and-click control scheme. Lords of Xulima - another great and pretty challenging old-school RPG that was largely ignored, and another Kickstarter success for me. Samorost 3 is an adventure game, released in 2016 by Amanita Design. I backed this on Kickstarter and I'm thrilled with the result. The press completely ignored it on release, and the company (led by Descent veterans) disbanded due to poor sales. This is THE successor to Descent - enough said. Overload - one of the recent old-school shooters that didn't get any attention. It's not perfect, and it overstays its welcome a bit if you go for the true ending, but it's one of the best RPGs I've played in the past year. This is Samorost 3, the latest, and arguably greatest, game to come out of Czech indie studio Amanita Design, the home of cult-hit adventures Botanicula, Machinarium, and of. A massive, crunchy dungeon crawler with an unexpectedly gripping and very dark story (content warning on this one).
Labyrinth of Refrain - this one really took me by surprise. Taking "sleeper" to mean games that didn't get a lot of attention.
